Made in 1962 by Achilleand Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos , theArco floor lamp is today one of the most innovative and imitated ever. This visionary project was born from the need to create a suspension lamp that would project light onto the table without requiring holes in the ceiling.
The very heavy marble base is nothing more than a counterweight to support the large metal arch; while the hole, made in the center of gravity of the base, was not conceived as a decoration but as a device to lift the base easily.
