Pio Manzù 's idea behind the Parentesi floor lamp project was to create a lamp capable of sliding vertically from floor to ceiling and rotating on its axis by 360°.
Achille Castiglioni makes it concrete by reducing the necessary components and materials to a minimum, through a design that enhances the vertical and rotary movement of the light thanks to a radical simplification of the structure itself.
Castiglioni speaking of Pio Manzù's intuition said: "I replaced Manzù's hypothesis, a rod, with the idea of using a metal rope, which when deflected, causes friction and allows the lamp body to remain in position without the help of no screw".
